I had Dawn M Landon as my lawyer. She was amazing and I will be recommending her to anyone and everyone that needs a family lawyer. She helped me accomplish something that I have been trying to do for the last six years that every lawyer that I have hired before this told me was impossible but I knew that there was a way there had to be. As a small background but not much detail I had 50/50 custody of my daughter amd there was all kinds of thing that where not right going on in the other home. No matter how much I begged him and pleaded that he paid more attention he just thought I was criticizing the way that he parented. But I just wanted my kid to be safe. In the end no matter how much I wanted to be wrong I found out it was true. Before finding Dawn I talked to over 6 different lawyers in my area closest to me, and every last one of them told me there was nothing that could be done. But Dawn on the other head said ooh no theres a way and i know exactly how to do it. And she did I have full custody. And the things i really wanted in place we're able to be accomplished. Things that other lawyers had told me I was crazy for even trying to ask for. Things like my kid should have a bedroom if shes staying at her dad's house and she should have a bed to sleep in and not be forced to sleep in the living room on the couch. She is the best lawyer someone could ask for. She has a good background on her when it comes to children law and if I ever need a lawyer again, hopefully not, I will definitely be asking for her to be on my side again.

Ms. Bird-Sell was my public defender back in 2011. She came at me with an absurd plea deal it was 24 months in either Fort Dodge or Clarinda State Prison with $4750 in fines, drug and alcohol classes with probation for 5 years following release all for a 2nd offense marijuana paraphernalia possession charge.. i refused to sign DeShawne L Bird-Sell papers and represented myself made a plea deal with county attorney Bruce Swanson and district court Judge Heckerman myself, then entered a plea of guilty with a deferred judgement of a $385 fine plus 6 month drivers license suspension with no probation and no drug classes.. This was 14 years ago to this day, I paid off all my fines moved out to Colorado and never had to worry about being prosecuted for using cannabis for my seizure disorder again!

DeShawne is absolutely amazing!! When people told me she was a "bulldog" in the courtroom I didn't know what that meant. After our first deposition I immediately knew what everyone was referring to. She was so aggresive (in a professional way) and able to find the truth. Very dedicated, very communicative, very smart and always on time! She took on my criminal case while my hands were tied. Hired Dawn Landon from this office she had no knowledge of family law no communication until until last minute. She was hungover late and had us go to the wrong courthouse making us 60 minutes late for court. We were laughed out of court. When I contested the bill with DeShawne the managing partner she sent me to collections. If you need a family law firm do not use Dawn Landon or DeShawne Bird-Sell.
