Greater Hartford Legal Aid
Attorney Kayla Steefel represented the plaintiff in my divorce case at Hartford Superior Court. I found her representation deeply troubling and misleading. She relied on false claims, including fabricated medical conditions and contradictory testimony that conflicted with the plaintiff’s own sworn statements to government agencies, including immigration filings. The plaintiff, while receiving Social Security benefits from last 20 years in CT, free healthcare, and free education, engaged in an extramarital relationship. Despite this, Ms. Steefel aggressively advanced a narrative exaggerating my alleged shortcomings while ignoring my financial and emotional contributions to the household and to the plaintiff’s children. The restraining orders filed were used solely to bar me from the marital home; they were not based on any criminal conviction or evidence of domestic violence. I consistently provided care, financial support, and emotional support to the plaintiff’s children and made payments toward shared household expenses, all of which were documented. Despite clear evidence of my contributions and support, Ms. Steefel’s advocacy helped secure an outcome that disregarded fairness and truth, granting the plaintiff an unjust advantage. In my experience, her approach prioritized pushing the plaintiff’s narrative over honesty, integrity, and equitable consideration, resulting in a deeply unjust judgment. 👎
Can’t get connected telephone wise to legal aid. Emailed them. Any other ways to talk to them?
Maria was my Education advocate, she attended 1 of 2 meetings said she would stay with me until June. Advocated for me at the first meeting however she never followed up to ask how things were going never showed up to the 2nd meeting even though she said she would until she closed his case out in June. Called me in March to ask how things were and that she would be closing the case. A waste of time honestly although I told her things had not gotten better. She didn’t care and she made it clear she was the only one In the building handling Educational IEP.
I’ve been calling for the last two weeks no response an automated answer the phone then tells you an operator will be right with you phone rings and rings and rings and rings and rings then tells you your call can’t be completed at this time call back later then hangs up if ya don’t want to offer free services then stop advertising it
Attorney Maria Morelli-Wolfe called my phone and told me she can’t help me at all, and was very rude and not helpful she also emailed me back and was very rude. Connecticut’s legal assistance programs are suppose to provide free civil legal services to income-eligible people in the form of direct representation and she has failed at that. Unsatisfied and unacceptable.
